Bilingual Research and Strategy

TeAtaahia Hurihanganui (Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa, Ngāti Rangitāne, Ngāti Hāmua) was a local leader in te ao Māori, te reo Māori, and education circles; a trustee at Rangitāne; and the owner operator of ReoRua Ltd.
Fab Feathy contracted ReoRua back in 2020 to undertake this research project on behalf of the PaetūMōkai community. The scope of this research included the current use of te reo Māori here in Paetūmōkai Featherston, to understand who is championing the language and how te reo can be supported to flourish further.
This resource video was created in consultation with schools, families, businesses, community groups, and wider South Wairarapa marae and whānau.
